       The Uniform

The Uniform:-
The present design of the Swiss Gaurds’ uniform is largely due to the commandant Jules Repond in 1905 who had excellent taste for shapes and colours. Standing proud with long halbards in the Vatican in their renaissance style blue and yellow striped ceremonial costumes with high ruffs, red-plumed helmets and steel breast armour, the Papal Swiss Guard is Switzerland’s most visible export. The colours , which make the Guard’s uniform so striking , are the traditional colours of the Medici family :blue, red, and yellow, which contrast perfectly with the white of the gloves and the breeches.
