Requirements:-
Swiss Guards have to be practising Catholics. It is obvious that their religious faith and practice , the Swiss Guards are the Holy Father’s “ visiting card”. Swiss nationality is a prerequisite for joining the Corps. The guards must already be in possession of the military skills which they can acquire in the Swiss Army . The well-known height of the Guards , 174 cms is respected. Image which is an integral part of their service , is important in relations with pilgrims, tourists, or persons seeking information . Only healthy candidates are accepted in the Swiss Gaurds and will have undergo a psychological test. They have to be male unmarried and of irreproachable reputation.
